New Weight-Loss Support – Mounjaro

Posted on:

Some GP practices in West Yorkshire are starting to offer a new medicine called Mounjaro. This is to help people who live with obesity.

Important Information:

Only a small number of patients can get Mounjaro right now.  You must meet strict NHS rules to be offered this medicine.  To be eligible, you must:

  • Have a BMI of 40 or more
  • Have four or more serious health problems related to your weight

If you are chosen, you must also join a support programme. This will include:

  • Help with healthy eating
  • Help to be more physically active

Do I Need to Call My GP?

No. Please do not contact your GP practice about this.  If you are eligible, your GP or the NHS will contact you directly.

We Understand This May Be Hard

We know that living with obesity or weight problems can be emotional and frustrating. You may feel left out or find it hard to get help. In West Yorkshire, we want to offer care that is kind, fair, and understanding.

Right now, not everyone can have medicine like Mounjaro.  This is not your fault. It does not mean you haven’t tried hard or don’t need support.

We are working on a system with many types of support, not just medicine.  This is called the Pillars of Support – and it is for everyone. If you need help with your health or weight, speak to your GP or health team.  They can help you find the right support for you.
